Yuri Knyazikhin

Yuri Knyazikhin

Yuri Knyazikhin received the B.S. degree in applied mathematics with honors from Tartu University, Estonia, and the Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics from the N. I. Muskhelishvilli Institute of Computing Mathematics, the Georgian Academy of Sciences, Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1978 and 1985, respectively. He is currently a Research Professor in the Department of Geography at Boston University. His research interests include remote sensing of vegetation, theory of radiative transfer in plant canopies, atmospheres and clouds. He is a member of the MISR and ARM science teams, and is responsible for developing the leaf area index (LAI) and fraction of absorbed photosynthetically active radiation (FPAR) products.
